NOTES: |
10" issued in die-cut white card sleeve with anti-static
polythene inner sleeve. The cover artwork and tracklisting is glued onto the front.
This version was issued without a label and is a second colour variation, also with
red on blue cover.
This is a 24 minute (approx.) live recording from VPRO radio in the Netherlands,
recorded 25th September '94.
This issue contains no evidence of a Catalogue Number or Label information, even
the run-out groove engraving has even scribbled out. This could
be 'Cock-Rock-Music#001' but the only thing I can say for sure is that it is NOT
the Crap-Rap-Records issue;
If you know any better or have any alternate versions/colour
variations please
let me know.
The sleeve states that the black side is 'A' and the white side is 'B' and white
label is even stamped with the letter 'B' but this is incorrect. The A-side tracks
are on the White/'B' label side and vice versa.
The cover photo by Ali Smith appeared in issue one of
BB Gun and looks as though it was been taken directly from a copy of that magazine. On close inspection the distinctive
cross-hatch lines making up the image are still there but lack all detail/clarity
whereas the image in the magazine is very defined.
The bootleg would appear to be a second-generation copy of that printing style and
not from an original photograph. The cover photo also appears in the booklet with the Japanese edition of Extra Width (but at a much higher resolution and using
a different printing method).
The 'Intro' track on this record is edited together in the same way as 'Tour Diary'
on 'Experimental Remixes'.
At least two segements appear on both releases; Jon Spencer singing "V, P, R, O!"
and the interviewer asks "What kind of music is this?".
Track A4 'Chickenwalk' is 'Mo' Chicken/Let's Get Funky' from 'Crypt
Style'.
Track B5 is listed on the cover as 'Corfewblues' but it's supposed to be
'Curfew Blues' which Jon Spencer says "is a song we ripped off of Earl King". According
to then inlay of Jukebox
Explosion Rockin' Mid-90's Punkers
this track was due to be released as a B-Side 'Caroline'
which was due to be the original third installment
of the Jukebox singles series.
Although this is probably not true as this was recorded in September
1994 and Train #3 (third installment of the Jukebox Series)
was released in 1993.
