Bauer: Everything’s just jamming—whether it’s at soundcheck or in a basement on Avenue B [in New York City]. Anyone [in the band] can start anything, so it’s pretty much a collective, musically. I think this album had the tightest time schedule of any—I think we had 10 days in July and 10 days in August to get songs written.”
