To Wayne–do not lose hope in the scene.
You are an individual, you should not have to
conform to please others. You should just
please yourself and not worry about this girl
who thinks you need to wear spikes and a
leather jacket. It doesn’t mater how you dress
or wear your hair, as long as your ideals are in
the right place.

We are not in a cult where we are told
what to do or wear. We are trying to be free, not
employ dictatorship over everyone.

This girl probably hangs around the same
people that starts fights and gangs up one one
little kid at shows, because he said or did
something “wrong.”

Anyway, I hope this helps.

This whole idea about girls getting their
“own” groups together is just as demeaning as
girls using “punk” as a dress-up game. Why
can’t men and women get together as equals?
It’s because girls, through their own make-up
and high-heeled vanity have submitted to male
oppression, expressed apathy in serious
political and musical pursuits, and have
therefore given themselves a bad reputation.
No wonder many punks don’t take girls seriously!

Anyone who preens before a mirror for
ages must be vain, and anyone who hangs on a
guy’s shoulder and wears a leather mini and
spike heels to a show must not really care what
the music is saying. People who use their looks
to make themselves popular and appealing and
command male attention–even to a slight
degree–should be the complete antithesis to
their motives.

One day women won’t need to be “foxy”
and men and women will finally enjoy each
other’s company without worrying about sex
unless it’s right. Bands with female guitarists
and drummers will be common; and women
won’t need to use a sexy “punk look” as a
means of acceptance–ideas will be the
replacement. Guys who find girls disgusting will
no longer have reasons to. Above all, equality
will be the rule, not the exception.

Don’t get me wrong–not everyone is like
this, and not every guy hates girls. I’m not
condoning asexuality, I understand that
dying one’s hair can be quite fun. I just think it’s
about time that some people evaluate, evaluate
perspectives and exercise some common
sense.

Unclean Records shows us an oversized
penis ejaculating–pure shock value . C’mon
guys, punk’s supposed to be intelligent–shock
those that can be shocked. Also it goes right back
to Lydia from Australia–I agree with you,
Lydia, 100%. Sex is getting just as boring as
jocks ain’t it? “Wally and the Beaver”–I know
you need an angle, but this I detest. WE need
unity-dammit-not even symbolic division. Also,
any war is an act of the state against the
individual. An act of fascism. Never glorify any
form of it cause that’s what we gotta
fight–oppression. Rather than continue
complaining, let me end off with praise–

Yay! for hardcore rebellion–still goin’ strong.
Yay! for punks out there lettin people know
they have a choice and don’t hafta conform.

I got a lot more to say, but I want this
printed so I’ll try to keep it short so I’ll say life is
not to life in dreams but to fight off the
nightmares.

I don’t know a thing cuz hardcore has changed so much.
Let me know what happened.

LOST GENERATION.

We have not meant to stress a real
hardcore image or do we mean to act as
persecutors to anyone’s style, but we do hate
misrepresentation and we know what we like
and what we don’t want to hear. What you got
to hear is a band with no substance and nothing
to say.

Hardcore will change some things
(ideas, thoughts, actions) by changing
individuals . I agree with a lot of what D.R. says
in her/his letter about the difficulty in influencing
the federal government, and the futility and
stupidity of violence within hardcore
communities, but I also feel that s/he is
unfortunately becoming overly cynical
(something not hard to become these days)
about the hopeful effects of the “alternative”
movement. To me, the most important value of
our music and way of life is to radicalize
ourselves. Real change starts inside each of us
and through communicating with others,
change on a larger scale becomes more
feasible. It may appear worthless to channel
our “rhetoric” back into our own groups, but it
isn’t–we can…

“The music’s so fucking turned up I have no idea what, I mean, I

couldn’t hear myself talk”
