“While the art of ancient cultures may seem primitive, it often proves an important tool for us to understands our forebearers. While excavating the ruins of New York City (a metropolis located in the northeast area of what was then the North American continent), archaeologists found the work of a mysterious figure known as “Princess Superstar,” who was a poet, musician, hustler and member of that city’s ruling class. Carbon dating and meticulous researching references have placed this document at the very previous millennium, thus making Princess Superstar “Last of the Great 20th Century Composers.” This album (as these items were referred to then) contains a number of valuable educational resources. First and foremost is her use of the archaic musical form of “hip hop,” named for its hopping-like drum patterns. Current audiences, however, will find a trace of the familiar in the occasional-albeit primitive-example of “electronic flip-flop” much as used in most planetary anthems today. This document also offers a fascinating depiction of the late 20th Century cultural concerns. “Kool Keith’s Ass” contaains the first known recorded conversation with the last president of the United States who disappeared during the Porn Wars of 2113. Princess Superstar and Prince Paul (one of the elite class known as “male models”) address contemporary religion with “I Hope I Sell A Lot of Records at Christmastime,” a song which refers repeatedly to “Santa,” a red-robed figure whose name in some cultures was slightly altered to “Satan”. A composition entitled “Come Up to my Room” features a man entitled “Baron Ricks” (undoubtedly from the same Royal Court) imploring the Princess to join him in what must be a secret romantic cave, that is, someplace “where the sun don’t shine.” Another noteworthy file, “Do It Like A Robot,” (remixed by Sir Jon Spencer) is a rousing classic, although at this time Scholars have been unable to determine what a “Robot” is. Composers, this is an invaluable document for musicologists, anthropologists, historians, and perhaps even you.” |
