4 August 2010: The following extract is from an interview with Kid Koala on the second album by The Slew:

“As for Jon [Spencer], we’ve been meaning to do some stuff together for the last couple of years. We were originally going to do something just the two of us, but I think the Slew is better suited to his voice. It’s got this really kind of sludge-bluesy roughness that’s just perfect for him.”

On 23 April 2011 Kid Koala answered a number of fan questions via his mailing list including this one regarding the Slew album and Jon Spencer:

“Q: tell us some more about the Jon Spencer collaboration, what is the track called, why / how it happened. And any predicted release date for the new LP?

A: I spoke with Jon about doing some vocals for a few tracks on the new Slew album. No release date yet. still working on preliminary arrangements and things for the tracks. So far we have 3 days in the studio worth of bass and drums from Chris Ross and Myles Heskett. Dylan and I are going through the tapes now and finding the parts we want to cut to vinyl. ”

29 October 2013: Exclaim.ca published an interview with Deltron 3030 in which Kid Koala refers to this album; “Kid Koala also reveals that he’s working on a second Slew album. Kid Koala describes this collaboration with DJ Dynomite D as “six turntables, Black Sabbath styles.” Inspired by a tour accompanied by the rhythm section of Australian rock band Wolfmother, Slew started work on a second album, choosing to sample from the participating musicians, and including tracks with “some of our favourite rock vocalists,” including Jon Spencer and longtime Automator collaborator Mike Patton. The album is in the midst of mixing.”

31 April 2017: Kid Koala posted “‪in #Seattle. working on a new The Slew album‬.”

1 April 2017: Kid Koala posted two photos from the studio captioned a photo captioned “in #Seattle. working on a new The Slew album. #tape @dynomite_dj studio” and “working on The Slew album 2. @dynomite_dj plugging the turntables into The Slew’s “Rack of Doom””

3 April 2017: Kid Koala and the official Slew twitter account have posted several more images and updates from the studio regarding the recording of the album including: “meanwhile the cat at the window is like “what the hell kinda music are you making in there” #seattle #TheSlew #grunge #turntable #wiring #in #the #202Wstereospringreverberation #unit #rawk #grungelism @dynomite_dj studio”
