During an interview with thehundredinthehands.com Joe Dilworth picked this image as his favourite band portrait: “THITH: Do you have a favorite band portrait you’ve taken? Joe: A band portrait is very different to photographing one person. It’s about how the individuals combine to make a mission statement. My favourite is one of The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion that i took in my front room in london. The idea I took from a Jesse Hector sleeve from the 70s, but of course in translation it becomes something else. So we have jesse, a North London rocker in the 70′s, interpreting an American “rock n’ roll” pose from the 50′s, being re-interpreted by an American band in the 90′s. The classic transatlantic 20 year bounce.” |
