CD edition of spoken-word album “the sonic companion for his memoirs” in card gatefold sleeve. Also available on download.
Jon Spencer produced the album, co-wrote Talking Main Event Magazine Blues and plays Guitars, Synthesizers, Drums, Theremin and Tire Iron. The tour in support of the paperback edition of I Have Fun Everywhere I Go… features one show by Mike Edison with The Delta Science Arkestra “featuring Jon Spencer and Heavy Friends” on Saturday 6th June 2009 at Pete’s Candy Store (Williamsburg). Here is the book description from Amazon: “Writer, musician, former publisher of High Times and ex-editor of skin mag Screw, Mike Edison is a true NYC renaissance man. He distills over two decades of his illicit adventures into his new memoir, I Have Fun Everywhere I Go: Savage Tales of Pot, Porn, Punk Rock, Pro Wrestling, Talking Apes, Evil Bosses, Dirty Blues, American Heroes, and the Most Notorious Magazines in the World (Faber and Faber). This beatnik bop and punk-rock boogaloo companion CD of the same name was produced by Jon Spencer and is rife with his trademark sonic hoodoo: fuzz guitars and blues explosions, science-fiction synthesizers, swirling church organs, and howling spookhouse theremins percolate behind Edison’s hilarious, no-holds-barrred storytelling and greasy sidewalk preaching. A sick brew of Lenny Bruce and Jack Kerouac, with high notes of Tom Waits, Sun Ra, and Richard Pryor, I Have Fun Everywhere I Go marks a revolutionary turn for the spoken word record.” – amazon.com Jon Spencer has appeared on the Edison Rocket Train releases This Train, Yes!, Yes!!, Yes!!! , East River Delta, I Walked With a Zombie , the I Have Fun Everywhere I Go soundtrack to the book and they both appear on the Speedball Baby track from Salvo of 24 Gunshots and the Lost Crusaders album.
Mike Edison receives a credit for ‘The Good Word’ on Damage and has worked with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion as their “‘Minister of Information’, writing the band’s press releases and industry propaganda, fan communiqués, and dedicated web copy.” along with the extensive sleeve notes for the 2010 deluxe releases of Year One, Extra Width + Mo’ Width, Orange + Experimental Remixes, Now I Got Worry, Controversial Negro, Acme + Acme Plus and Dirty Shirt Rock N Roll: The First Ten Years. |
