MADE IN THE UK”

“Known for his electrifying blend of blues, rock, and punk, Jon Spencer is a powerhouse musician, best known as the frontman of The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. He has also collaborated with other influential acts, including his earlier band, Pussy Galore, as well as projects such as Boss Hog and Heavy Trash. Spencer’s work is renowned for pushing boundaries and crafting sounds that merge gritty blues with chaotic energy.

The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion burst onto the scene in the early ’90s with their fiery mix of raw, stripped-down rock and blues, quickly earning a reputation for their live shows and unconventional recording techniques. By 1998, they had cemented their place in alternative music with explosive albums like Orange (1994) and Now I Got Worry (1996). The band’s 1998 album Acme further showcased their unique sound, blending garage rock energy and punk intensity, all delivered with Spencer’s unmistakable swagger and fervour.

Shortly before the release of Acme, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion embarked on a brief summer tour, predominantly playing in North America. On May 30, 1998, the band performed at Tramps in New York City, delivering a performance that can only be described as electrifying. A masterclass in raw rock and roll, Spencer and his bandmates tore through a set filled with ferocious energy and sonic intensity. An unforgettable night for everyone in attendance, the entire enthralling performance is now available for all to hear on this new CD.”
