SLEEVE NOTES / INFORMATION: | |
“How the hell do you condese yer record collection onto one CD? Especially when there’s five of you? Here at Hives HQ, putting tigether the track-listing for this first volume of Kerrang!’s ‘Hometaping’ series has seen us digging through our various collections of dog-ered vinyl and assorted aluminium cookies (that’s CDs to you folks) to try and get together a CD that represents the bands we love and truely admire.
What do these bands have in common? Well, apart from the fact that we dig each and everyone of ’em, hey all manage to define rock ‘n’ roll in it’s purest form. Forget the lame, genetically modified shit that passes as rock music in this day and age. These bands have nothing to do with the homogenised crao cluttering uo the airwaves. From seminal sluggers like Radio Birdman, The Damned and The Saints through to the primeval stomp of the Oblivians and The New Bomb Turks and on to the soul-power of The Bellrays, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and The Dirtbombs, this CD is packed with greasy, raw and emotional music made by people who truely don’t give a damn. To be honest, this first volume of ‘Home Taping’ could easily ahve been a double CD. If we’d had enough time we would ahve loved to have liberated a few more tracks from the vaults of the likes of The Sonics, The Music Machine, Screaming Jay Hawkins and The MC5. hey, maybe next time eh? Till then, here’s a brief introduction to our record collections. Check it out and get Hivesenated!” – Nick Arson – The Hives COVER TEXT: “A suave collection of garage punk nuggets lovingly compiled by THE HIVES STARRING The Damned DISC: “Hometaping Vol. 1 Compiled by The Hives TRAY: “KERRANG!
