| NOTES: | |
| Very limited box set of the first five The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion jukebox singles issued in a hand-numbered edition of 20 copies with insert. Since this box set was released In The Red have issued another two singles in the series (Gadzooks! (7″, US) / Human Obscene (7″, US)).
First sold at the Ottobar, Baltimore MD show on 27 April 2011. Shirt Jac and Latch On were recorded with Steve Albini from the bands second recording session in November/December 1991 at Waterfront, Hoboken, NJ. Latch On is a Jon Spencer arrangement of a rockabilly song despite the fact that The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion version has very little in common with the most well-known recordings of this track (released by Ron Hargrave and The Cochran Brothers). The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion version is more-than-likely a cover of the Cochran Brothers version of this song as both tracks feature the words “you are really gone” which do not appear in the lyrics sung by Ron Hargrave. Son of Sam and Bent feature Kurt Hoffman on Saxophone. The original version of Son of Sam is by Chain Gang and their recording was released as a 7″ single and appears on the What’s Up Matador? compilation. A live recording of Son of Sam was released on Controversial Negro. It is believed that both tracks from this 7″ stem from the Extra Width sessions. In an interview Jon Spencer mentioned a session with Kurt Hoffman where the band recorded Son of Sam, Bent, Fat (released on Jukebox Explosion…) and possibly Out of Luck (from Mo’ Width) and Relax-Her (Afro B-Side). Get With It features Mark Ramos Nishita on piano and is a cover of a Charlie Feathers song released in 1956. As stated in the sleeve-notes to Jukebox Explosion Rockin’ Mid-90s Punkers The Explosion Juke Box Series (and label design) is based on a series of releases Charlie Feathers put out in 70s. Do Ya Wanna Get It? features Dr John on piano. Visit the entries listed below for details of the original releases and details on the full series.
