NOTES:
Split single issued in wrap-around sleeve, song credits and notes are printed on the inside (see images).

The Wat Tyler cover parodies The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion band name and uses the Extra Width sleeve with the face of Jon Spencer replaced with that of Michael Crawford (as Frank Spencer).

The following extract is from the sleeve notes: “The cover of this record is a spoof of the Jon Spencer Extra Width sleeve. The only trouble is that some sneaky little fucker at Melody Maker stole my idea for the joke page, but fuck them. I know it was my idea, so that’s all that matters. I detest Jon Spencer for absolutely no reason, but it is healthy to have pet hates. If only the Fall were worth taking the piss out of”

If I’m Lonely…
I’m sick of the television.
Nothing is on.
It doesn’t mean indecision.
I’m sick of my stereo.
I’m sick of my CDs.
I wish someone would throw them all away.
If I see you then I would know it’s true.
If I’m lonely then it’s only because I’ve got nothing better to do.
I finally found a radio station.
It played the songs I would have played.
It didn’t last long until I realised it was nothing new.

B1. Wat Tyler – Played For And Got
Recorded at Ramshackle, Sunderland in the north on the 22-24th-10-94 with 13 other songs. Frankie did all the work, we just laid down some real shoddy backing tracks and expected him to perform miracles in the mix.

Which just for the record, happened at three o clock in the morning. It was pretty surreal dancing round to the new part of the little people, at that tme in the morning. This song is about losing in love and life. Very sad and I’m sure you don’t want to hear any more about it.

B2. Wat Tyler – Smells Like Dog Poo
Originally recorded for a single in America. We were gonna call the single “Dull sports, No 4 American football” but when we sent the dat, we never heard from the guy again. Speaks volumes about this song. Recorded at Redchurch in Hackney on the 27-7-93 with some other crap.

B3. Wat Tyler – If The Kids Are United
Also recorded at the same session. It features “lets go mad” on vocals. When Wat Tyler finally knock it on the head, lets go mad will take it over. They are a class duo, with Jon Spencers alleged coolness and the cheek of naughty school kids. Also this song will be on the damged goods old school punk rock covers LP. Be warned.

WAT TYLER ARE:
Julie – Vocals / Darren – Vocals / Duncan – Vocals / Smithy – Guitar / Tuck – Bass / Sean – Drums
All songs are shit, so we don’t bother with copyright.
Cover by Jane and Label by Frank
WAT TYLER/PO BOX 357/LONDON/SE19 1AD
Another split single. This time with J Church. They even cover a Tyler number. What the fuck has the world come to. Perhaps Cringer will be cisted as the greatest influence on the pop punk scene of San Francisco. We are still waiting for the movement that makes shit bands stars. It happened once before when Splodgenessabound and the Toy Dolls had hits, but since then we’ve been waiting.

The cover of this record is a spoof of the Jon Spencer Extra Width sleeve. The only tourble is that some sneaky little fucker at Melody Maker stole my idea for the joke page, but fuck them. I know it was my idea, so that’s all that matters. I detest Jon Spencer for absolutely no reason, but it is health to have pet hates. It only the Fall were worth taing the piss out of, in the next few months here will be total Tyler overload, so start thinking about that bank job…
