The record features a live recording of Jon Spencer, Rob Kennedy (as Brett Gurewitz) and Yo La Tengo performing Slack Motherfucker [LYRICS] recorded at the Matador Records 10th Anniversary Concerts, Irving Plaza, New York City on 25 September 1999. This is a cover of a Superchunk song [RELEASE / LYRICS]. Prior to the event the Matador Records blog indirectly referred to this release: “Every attendee will receive a Matador at 21 totebag. It will not be filled with tons and tons of goodies, but it does have one very special item in it.” Afterwards it was mentioned on Blender.com: “On our way out, we’re given a tote bag that contains an event-specific ten-inch single featuring a live cover of Superchunk’s “Slack Motherfucker” done by Jon Spencer and Yo La Tengo (recorded at Matador’s 10th anniversary show in 1999) as well as newly-recorded version of The Fall’s “The League Of Bald Headed Men as done by The LLAF (get it?).
