Jon Spencer Blues Explosion – HoustonPress.com: Interview

RO: What was the response like going on the road again?
JS: Kind of the same as always. We have good crowds anywhere and everywhere. We started playing again live in 2008 after a three-year break, so the 2010-2011 gigs were not so radically different. I was keen to see if there would be a shift in the audience after the release of the new studio album Meat+Bone in 2012. So far no big difference.”

Houston Press have posted a new Jon Spencer Blues Explosion interview.

…and a five question interview can be seen on atlantamusicguide.com:

What’s the first gig you ever attended?
Maybe Beatlemania? My older sister took me. The early gigs that made a difference for me were my first hardcore shows. Not my most favorite music but very empowering!

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?
The Blues Explosion has had some very, very nice shows recently. Our December tour in Europe seemed to hit a new high every night.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?
Hard to say. Link Wray in ’84? Kraftwerk in ’98? Maybe all the Jesus Lizard shows I saw when we opened for them in ’92?

Gig you would most like to play?
The ones that pay a lot of money. Ha!

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?
Baby, I got my dream line up. Come see it at the Earl.
